While discussing the recent earthquake in Northern California’s Napa region, John Dvorak discussed his experience talking to the folks at San Francisco’s K&L Wine Merchants. Dvorak doesn't like MSG very much! MSG has been added to food to food for years to enhance "mouth feel" or Umami to the Japanese.

The Voice

During NA 546 Adam expressed approval of The Voice, the popular singing contest reality show on NBC. Dvorak couldn't hold back his disapproval, say, "it stinks and has phony feuds".

The Fifth Estate

Best known as the "Wikileaks film" - just bombed at the box office. The DreamWorks film was actively campaigned against by Julian Assange. Adam mentioned this failure on NA 559. Adam said either the promotion was wrong or "no one gives a crap!"

Horse Meat Steaks

While Dvorak played a clip on wild horses being slaughtered by a Navaho tribe, he described the different horse meat dishes he has eaten. One was a specialty horse meat steakhouse. He thought it makes for better tacos. Adam added that it's been found to be added into many commercial meat products.

Mechanics Bank

Back when Adam relocated from the UK to San Francisco, he took Dvorak's advice and got an account at Richmond (East Bay) based Mechanics Bank. Not exhibiting the bad behavior of the major banks, Mechanics Bank had such good service that Adam kept using them even after he left San Francisco.
