Right off Route 66 in Amarillo, the Big Texan’s whole shtick is the 72-ounce steak challenge: finish it, plus all the trimmings — a baked potato the size of a football, a full head of broccoli, the works — in one hour, and the meal’s free. Almost nobody pulls it off, and they livestream every attempt on a stage so the whole restaurant can watch you suffer. Even if you’re not brave enough to try it, it’s a fun stop just for the spectacle, and the regular menu is solid steakhouse fare if you’d rather not gamble your dignity.
