San Francisco Giant Voice System
Adam and John remembered hearing San Francisco’s air-raid like test signal every Tuesday at noon from the SF Mevio office on 2nd Street. Officially named the San Francisco Outdoor Warning System – consists of a network of klaxon like sirens and public address speakers mounted on towers spread out over the city of San Francisco. A show producer, Michael Butler sent in a recording of one sending out its test alert in different languages from a tower “out in the Avenues” (Sunset or Richmond district in Western San Francisco).

I was in San francisco this week on a trip from Australia and after hearing about this on the show I too heard the Giant Voice System i nits glory. I’d walked through Golden gate park to the beach and walking to the Cliff House when off it went. While I didn’t check my watch when it went off I can say it was Tuesday and it was around midday.
