Kilpatrick’s White Bread

No Agenda Show Knight, Sir Cumcision of Blaine, Washington sent a message to John Dvorak that his recent tale of Kilpatrick’s White Bread and other popular white balloon breads of the 1950s–1970s jarred a memory of his visiting the Kilpatrick’s bakery in San Francisco during a school field trip.

He fondly recalled receiving a paper bakery hat and a loaf of “magical Kilpatrick air bread,” describing it as “puffy and vacchus as God intended.” He also noted that Kilpatrick aficionados would deride Wonder Bread as inedible, considering it an inferior product.

Kilpatrick’s Bread holds nostalgic value for many, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area. The bakery was located at 2030 Folsom Street in San Francisco, and many locals remember school field trips there during the 1980s.  Additionally, the bakery operated a fleet of trucks delivering freshly baked bread to grocery stores.

The brand Kilpatrick’s is no longer around. The brand got purchased by Sara Lee then abandoned. People don’t eat to eat artificial looking white bread anymore.

For collectors, Kilpatrick’s Bread memorabilia, such as vintage tins and promotional items, can be found on platforms like Etsy.
