Rob’s actual on-air tip of the day: go find a drum circle and join in, even if you’ve never played a drum in your life. He described joining one himself at a gathering called “Medicine for the People” after a friend offered him a spare ticket — brought his own gourd drum (a hollowed-out gourd, much lighter than the big drums other people haul around in wagons) and says it turned into one of the more unexpectedly moving, community-driven experiences he’s had, flute and sound-bowl meditation tent included.

If you want to get your own hand drum, Amazon carries beginner djembes and frame drums, but no exact model was named on air, so search for “beginner djembe” or “frame drum” directly. To actually find a circle near you, a local drum circle or ecstatic dance meetup listing (Meetup.com, or a quick search for “[your city] drum circle”) is the real starting point.
