Dublin Cheddar

John Dvorak just received a donation of Dublin Cheddar cheese but isn't sharing any of it with Adam! A show producer sent John a couple blocks of the tasty cheddar...

Annie’s Macaroni and Cheese

This weeks Executive Producer, Sir Joshua claim's he's just getting by while eating Annie's Shells & White Cheddar. Annie's makes a popular line of organic mac'n cheese products and are headquartered in John Dvorak's backyard of Berkeley, California.

Beef Bourguignon

Adam was hosting a dinner party and needed some help from foodie John Dvorak. In a rare off show phone call, John recommended beef bourguignon - a classic french country dish. Adam renamed it Double Dipper Recession Slave Stew.

Chocolate Covered Bacon

Adam’s munching on a truly delicious outstanding product – chocolate covered bacon! Micky just whipped some up by coating strips of bacon in delicious chocolate. Adam is thinking it might be even better if milk chocolate is used. [NA 507:1:47]

Poutine was described by Producer Sam as Canada's version of Mac 'n Cheese. Neither Adam nor John knew exactly what it was, which is french fries topped with brown gravy and cheese curds.

Matjes Herring

While discussing the Norwegian brown cheese or gjetost, Dvorak brought up Danish matjes, an oily type of herring.

United States of Bacon

During NA 490 John Dvorak was raving about The United States of Bacon on the Destination America network.

Marjoram

While John Dvorak was thinking of ways to improve his Cat Food Mac'n Cheese recipe, he's sure the herb marjoram will come in handy! Dvorak loves marjoram and buys it in 2 pound batches and often uses it as a salad herb.

Cat Food Mac’n Cheese

During NA 492 it was starting to turn into the Mac'n Cheese Life with so many Mac'n Cheese stories. Adam then wondered what's next on the ladder when you can't afford Mac'n Cheese? He then answered cat food!

Geitost (Brown Cheese)

Hans-Peter Feld from Gitmo Nation Brown Cheese actually sent Adam a block of this brown, caramelized sweet goat cheese. Called brunost or gjetost in Norway...

Illegal Fruit

In NA491 john Dvorak mentioned Huffpo story on how the dairy industry is seeking no labels for artificially sweetened milk! Can you imagine awful aspartame in your milk? [NA491:1:07]

Mac ‘n Cheese

During NA 491, Adam and John brainstormed that they'd get rich with a Mac'n Cheese food truck. It was brought up again the next episode when they played a clip that explained how Mac'n Cheese is cheaper than fruit. Adam reminded everyone that cat food is even cheaper!

Tilapia “Food Scam”

  [NA 490]“The biggest Gitmo fish in the world!” exclaimed Adam during a discussion of food scams. Dvorak described tilapia as “fish they feed to make fish” and the Canola oil of the fish world.”

Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Châteauneuf-du-Pape was mentioned very briefly while John Dvorak was discussing the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI. He pointed out there used to be a feud between Rome and the French city that makes Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine.

Everclear

During NA 474 a show Producer sent John some small batch No Agenda Moonshine. John compared it to Everclear, a 180 proof distilled spirit.

Maker’s Mark

A producer asked John C. Dvorak for a recommendation of a quality American Bourbon. John first recommended Maker's Mark as a "very good product" for something that is easily available. Then up-rec'd to Van Winkle bourbon. John further scoffed at Adam's suggestion of Jack Daniels.

Thanksgiving Wine Tips

During the donation announcements, a producer asked John for thanksgiving dinner wine tips. John recommended a Beaujolais Villages from Jadot - a 2010-11 vintage is currently being sold at Costco or at wine.com. "Beaujolais goes perfect with turkey!" California Chardonnay also works great too.

Saffron Rice

Afghani farmers began growing saffron to replace opium as a cash crop, but now the spice is suffering falling prices. The scam John Dvorak uncovered is that many spice merchants claim the saffron is from Iran, but it's really grown in Afghanistan and resold.
