Ben’s dad has a sawmill and cut him some slabs, so Ben’s building his own live edge coffee and side table — and he’s been learning the craft from John Malecki’s YouTube videos. “I’ve been watching a lot of John Malecki’s videos… he does a lot of live edge tables and epoxy tables and everything.” The idea, per Ben: “you’re not doing a whole lot of prep work, it’s in the finishing” — letting the wood grain and an epoxy pour do the work rather than carving the piece yourself. A solid channel to start with if you’ve got a slab (or a sawmill-owning relative) and want to try it.
